Satoshi KonishiExecutive Vice President: KDDI Research and Vice President of Technology Planning at KDDI
Dr. Satoshi Konishi joined KDDI in 1993. He was involved in research and development in wireless communication systems from low earth orbit (LEO) satellite systems and mesh-type fixed wireless access (FWA) systems to mobile cellular systems.
He led LTE commercialization from 2008 to 2012 inside of KDDI. Before that and at the same time, he led performance evaluation for IMT-Advanced systems including LTE in ITU-R and was chair of evaluation group in 3GPP2. He also successfully developed and commercialized new functions such as carrier aggregation (CA), VoLTE, Femto cell, and so on for the LTE-Advanced system in KDDI as General Manager and Head of Mobile Access Technology Department in KDDI. Since 2017, he conducted numerous demonstrations using 5G and 5G commercialization in KDDI, as General Manager and Head of Next Generation Network Development Department in KDDI.
In 2020, as Deputy Head of Mobile Technology Division in KDDI, he took a leadership and launched Community Lab of Facebook Telecom Infra Project (TIP) in Tokyo.
Since April 2020, he leads B5G/6G as Executive Vice President of KDDI Research Inc. and VP of Technology Planning, KDDI. As part of his work, he published a large number of journal and conference papers as well as patents on wireless communications methods and radio resource management.
Dr. Konishi has been awarded with many awards from ARIB, 3GPP2, and IEICE.
He got Ph.D degree from Waseda University, Japan, in 2006 and MBA degree from Globis University, Japan, in 2017.
